Concrete Apartment in FiDi
Apartment / Loft Renovation
Financial District, Manhattan, New York
The owner of this apartment wanted to transform his all-white apartment into a more unique and textured space. The new apartment has concrete textures in almost every room, with the kitchen and closets the only exceptions. This was a gut renovation, where we added a second bedroom and a second bathroom (also in concrete). The ceilings were raised to achieve a more open feeling.
The overall theme of this apartment is texture, with an industrial inspiration. The apartment has many custom features, including industrial accessories such as steel tube ceiling-mounted towel bars and a black metal coat rack in the entrance hall. The walls have concrete textures, even in the bathroom walls and floors, although the bathroom concrete is smoother than the textural finishes in other areas. Wood and metal are major features in this design, with bright orange wood doors and black metal and steel throughout the apartment.
