SoHo Loft Maisonette
- 3,500 Sq Ft SoHo Loft Maisonette
- SoHo, Manhattan, NYC
Located in the heart of SoHo, this 3,500 square foot maisonette loft reinterprets classic New York industrial architecture through a refined, contemporary lens. Positioned at street level with a private sidewalk entrance, the residence offers a rare townhouse-like arrival experience while maintaining the scale and openness of an authentic SoHo loft.
A defining architectural element of the residence is the preserved exposed brick façade wall, a hallmark of historic SoHo loft buildings. The original masonry introduces warmth, texture, and authenticity, grounding the space in New York’s industrial heritage while contrasting elegantly with modern interventions. Rather than treating the brick as a purely decorative feature, it was approached as a central material element that anchors the overall spatial composition.
The main living level is defined by dramatic 14-foot ceilings, expansive windows, and a fully open plan layout that maximizes light, volume, and flexibility. The scale of the space creates a gallery-like environment ideally suited for art collectors and large-scale entertaining. The proportions allow for museum-quality art display, while maintaining a comfortable and livable residential atmosphere.
The interior planning emphasizes clarity, flow, and restraint. Furnishings are intentionally minimal and carefully curated to reinforce the architectural volume rather than compete with it. Circulation is fluid and intuitive, supporting both large gatherings and everyday living. The result is a space that feels simultaneously grand and calm—an essential balance in luxury residential design.
This project preserves authentic historic character while elevating the space through precise spatial planning, material sensitivity, and a deep understanding of how clients live, entertain, and collect.
