UWS Apt Combo

1,500 Sq Ft UWS Apartment Combination

Upper West Side, Manhattan, NYC

This is a 1,500 square foot apartment in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NYC. The apartment was originally two smaller apartments that we combined into one. The apartment was fully gut renovated. We have a blog post you can see on How to Combine Apartments in NYC if you want to learn more on the subject.

The focus of this apartment renovation was to combine the two apartments in a manner that makes it feel like it was always one apartment. Good design is deliberate, so it is important to avoid making a home renovation feel pieced together.

In the apartment we opened up one of the bedrooms to create a new home office with black metal and glass doors opening off the living room. This allows additional light into both spaces and makes the home feel more open.

The bathrooms are large format porcelain tiles in gray tones keeping the design simple. A drop ceiling was added throughout to accommodate new recessed lighting. This apartment is a good example of a modernization without going overboard. Keeping it straight forward and to the point.
