Custom Stone Bathroom Sink Designs

by | Jul 10, 2025 | Bathroom Design, Interior Design

When designing and building a luxury bathroom, we are not using everyday materials and products. For a bathroom to be truly luxurious, it must be custom-made and feature high-quality materials throughout, including the sink.

A custom stone bathroom sink is an ideal option for a luxury bathroom design. First of all, bathrooms must be custom-made to be truly luxurious, and second, natural materials possess a richness unmatched by alternative options. These materials, of course, come in at a higher price point.

I am Jorge Fontan, an architect in New York and the owner of Fontan Architecture, a Manhattan-based architecture and design firm. At our office, we work on various types of projects, including residential renovations and new home designs. While designing luxury homes, we often incorporate custom sinks into the design. Below are a few bathrooms we have created with custom-made stone sinks.

Travertine Sink

One of my favorite natural materials to design with is Travertine. This stone has a natural elegance and richness. We also prefer to use slabs when working with Travertine. Working with stone slabs reduces the need for joints due to the large size of the material.

You can see below a bathroom we made entirely out of Travertine Slabs, including the sink. In this bathroom, we made a long counter with two integrated sinks. A key feature of this bathroom is the strong geometric statement made by the scale of the sink and countertop. Additionally, the monolithic nature of the Travertine sink, matching the walls and floor, makes this a stunning and sophisticated bathroom design.

Unique Marble Sinks

There are many material options for designing a custom stone sink, and one of the most important things about designing your home is that it should be specially made for you.

Below is a unique powder room with a green marble sink. This sink is beautiful and custom-made. When choosing the marble, we visit the stone yard and select the exact slab to purchase for fabrication. This process enables us to achieve the precise quality of design we are aiming for.

Stone is easier to work with when using flat slabs and certainly more affordable than complex shapes. If you are creating a complex shape from a block of stone, the price would increase significantly. You can achieve a curved look using stone slabs through various techniques, including faceting a stone slab. Of course, you can also have the sink carved from an entire block of stone.

In the picture below, you will see a custom onyx sink with a curved front.

The most important aspect of home design that makes it luxurious is the incorporation of custom-made features. A custom sink is unique and specially made for you, allowing for any design imaginable.

Below is a custom-made double-integrated sink over a custom wood vanity with brass details. This sink is an example of a high-quality, specially made piece for a luxury bathroom.

Black Granite Sink

There are numerous material options for stone sinks, and granite is undoubtedly one of them. Granite and marble have distinct appearances, offering a wide range of design possibilities.

In this bathroom, we aimed for a dark and moody aesthetic. We used a custom granite sink design to complement the ambiance. This sink is wall-to-wall integrated into the countertop. It is a strong feature that complements the overall bathroom design nicely.

Integrated Bathroom Sink Countertop

An integrated sink is a sink that is made of the same material as the countertop. These sinks are assembled in such a manner as to create a seamless design.

All the sinks in this article are integrated sinks. We do not always use this feature, but we often do because of the sleek and modern aesthetic. Below is another example of a marble integrated sink. This one has a long countertop sitting on top of a custom cabinet with two sink basins.

Seamless Sink

The most critical detail for modern or minimalist design is that the sinks be fabricated seamlessly. We designed all of these sinks to have no visible joints and work with high-quality custom fabricators to achieve that goal.

In the photo below, you can see that the sink appears to be a single block of stone, but it is not. This sink is crafted from stone slabs, all of which are miter-cut and assembled seamlessly to achieve the desired look.

Under Sink Shelf

A little bonus detail is adding storage or a shelf. In a few of the bathrooms we have shown you, there were custom vanities underneath the stone sinks. A cabinet is a handy option for your bathroom. A great alternative is to add an open shelf under the sink, which can also be a great look.

In this bathroom, we have a travertine sink and built a matching custom travertine shelf. This design is a floating shelf, which is also a nice touch. It matches this sink, appearing as a stone slab hanging from the wall.

Custom Stone Sink Design Ideas

There are many options for designing custom sinks in a bathroom. The most important thing is that the entire bathroom design functions as a cohesive unit.

Bathroom design should be thought out. We do not simply throw materials together. We always work out bathroom design as a whole, ensuring that the choices complement each other.
