This project is a 2,500-square-foot full gut renovation of a prewar apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The residence was originally configured as two smaller apartments that had been combined over time, resulting in a fragmented layout with undersized rooms and limited natural flow.

Our clients asked us to reimagine the residence as a cohesive, highly tailored home that feels as though it has always existed in this form. We carefully re-planned the apartment to improve proportion, circulation, and spatial clarity. Select walls were removed to create gracious living and entertaining spaces, while private areas were expanded and refined. Two smaller bathrooms were combined to create a primary bathroom that feels calm, private, and quietly luxurious.

The design reflects a restrained, transitional approach that respects the architectural character of the Upper East Side while introducing contemporary precision and comfort. All major built elements were custom-designed, including the kitchen, entertainment center, and bathroom vanities. The primary bathroom is clad in full-height marble slabs, selected for subtle movement and installed to read as continuous surfaces rather than individual pieces.

Luxury in this residence is expressed through craftsmanship, proportion, and material integrity. Bespoke details include curved and beveled kitchen cabinetry with integrated brass accents, seamless marble niches, refined millwork reveals, and carefully balanced natural materials. Each transition between materials was designed to feel intentional and understated.
